Want to help our students succeed academically?
The committee puts on the “Back to School Party” annually to help gear up kids for the upcoming school year – getting them ready mentally, physically, socially and provides them with free school supplies! The Scholarship Committee also gives out scholarships to help with college tuition and has essay contests from time to time. We can always use extra hands to help plan and committee members to seek out more available scholarships.
Ushers & Greeters
Wish to help newcomers feel right at home?
One of the more fun ministries here is the ministry of Usher and Greeter.
Ushers and Greeters are essentially “people persons.” They clearly like
people, and count strangers as simply “friends we haven’t met yet.” The
Usher and Greeter is also a person of commitment, arriving at least
15-minutes before his or her assigned service, well dressed and fresh in
appearance (and breath!) The Usher and Greeter stands at the Foyer and
makes certain that people get their bulletins, a friendly greeting and a
Visitors are a special ministry and joy to the Usher and Greeter. The Visitor
gets his or her first impression of people of The Worship Center®
Community Church from the Ushers and Greeters, as well as the last
impression as the Usher and Greeter see them off, at the end of the
service. The Ushers and Greeters make certain the visitors are not only
able to find convenient seating, but will also assist visitors to finding the
various facilities they need while in service, such as bathrooms, nursery,
Enjoy greeting people and welcoming new faces?
This is an easy and fun way to volunteer. At every service, we need
workers to sit at the front desk to greet people with a smile and direct them
as they enter the building, as well as to answer the phone.
Basic responsibilities include – sit at front desk during service, have people
sign in, give visitor packets to new visitors, hand out bulletin and remind
people of any special upcoming event.
Infant & Toddler Volunteers
Have a passion for working with children?
This is one of the most needed and rewarding areas of helping at The
Worship Center® Community Church. Volunteers must be 18 years or
older and are responsible to watch the infants and toddlers during the
morning services, as well as engage them in fun learning activities. This is
a very fun way to help out! One perk is that there is NO diaper changing.
Each child is assigned a number and the parent is given a corresponding
pager. If a child needs to be changed during a service, you simply page the
parent to come and care for their child. Volunteers can only help for one
out of the two morning services, because we believe it is important that
volunteers also get time in church to be spiritually fed.
Feel called to protect others?
This ministry serves the church by providing the congregation a safe and secure place to worship. We work with the disorderly and disruptive as well as protect and praise the faithful. God has given the security team wisdom and grace to deal with some very difficult situations, as well as incredible boldness and compassion.
Are you a handy man or a handy woman?
You’re one of our heroes if you have building maintenance and repair skills! There are always maintenance and upgrade tasks that need performing. This is the perfect ministry opportunity for the skilled individual with bits of available time or a retiree. Skills may include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and supervisory for general Church work days. Building and Maintenance volunteers interact with the Building Ministry that meets monthly.
