You Can’t Do It All. But the Holy Spirit Can. What You Need to Know about operating in the Spirit’s Power & Influence.

by on May 8, 2019

I confess. I freely admit it. That there are times when I just don’t feel smart enough to do all the things I know I ought be doing. I don’t feel strong enough. Or capable enough. See, I KNOW how weak and inadequate I am, in myself. I also sense the awesomeness of the things that God would like to do in the lives of people around me. And, I also know that He wants ME to be able to HELP the many hurting and needy people that I come across. That’s when I feel inadequate and weak.

Sometimes when I switch my TV on, it just gets to me. There are so many talented influential and gifted people on TV. I think about how much good they could do for other people if they would just use their resources for GOD. Then I think about how great it would be to reach some of those people who have access to thousands and even millions of other people… and to see them find forgiveness and new life in Jesus.

It really IS easy to envy people who just seem to have it all together – the ones who have the looks, money, incredible abilities and the gift of being able to reach and influence other people so easily. They could do SO much good, if only they could get their lives straightened out.

Then, when we look at ourselves, we feel like we don’t have very much to offer. We don’t know enough people. We don’t have money. We don’t have influence. We don’t have friends in high places. We’re not “holy” enough for God to use. Or too dumb when comes to bible knowledge. Maybe we don’t remember very well. Or we’re not too good with words. So we figured God can’t do very much with us.

But, guess what? If you have the Holy Spirit in your life, you have more power in your big toe than a good looking, powerful, popular, rich, persuasive, intelligent person who DOESN’T have the Holy Spirit.

God doesn’t NEED us to be rich. Or powerful or rich according to this world’s systems. All he is looking for is for us to be available and willing to be used by Him. God can do more through a HANDFUL of people who will yield to Him than He can though a thousand people who think they don’t NEED God’s help. He says in Zechariah 4:6 that what it takes ISN’T our strength, or our power, but HIS Spirit! It’s NOT us, but HIM!

See, when you pray and ask the Holy Spirit of God to deal with someone, He can ALWAYS get right on the job – day or night. There’s no distance with Him, either.

For example, you might wish you could get a word to the President. It could take you years to get a personal audience with him/ her. And even then, he might not really listen to you.

But, when you operate in the Holy Spirit, you have an incredible opportunity: You simply pray and ASK the Holy Spirit to go and speak to the President’s heart. To visit him through a dream; to lead some individual to him that he would really listen to; to put someone on a TV show who would say the right thing when the president is watching; to cause him to read a book or an article in a magazine that the Holy Spirit could speak through!

When you are dealing in the Holy Spirit, you’re virtually unlimited. Jesus said that lots of things are IMPOSSIBLE with humans – but that ALL things are possible with God! And, I want to remind you that when you’re with Jesus, you ARE with God!

On our own, there are a lot of limitations. But, in God, it’s different. The Holy Spirit can go places we can’t go. He can reach people WE can’t reach. He can speak to people that WE can’t speak to. He can accomplish what is impossible to you.

I feel impressed by the Holy Spirit to put something here that I wasn’t planning on putting in. It’s for somebody who needs it. It’s this: You feel like you have so little and are up against so much… you’re tired of fighting and you have about given up. DON’T DO IT.

Listen to what it says in Chronicles 14:11 “Lord it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many or with them that have no power; Help us O Lord our God; for we rest on thee and in thy name we go against his multitude. O Lord, thou are our God; Let no man prevail against thee.”

You feel like you’re a person that doesn’t have much power, and that you are up against people who are smarter than you are and more powerful. Listen! IT IS NOTHING WITH GOD WHETHER YOU HAVE ANY POWER OR WHETHER YOU ARE COMPLETELY HELPLESS! THOSE FORCES THAT ARE COMING AGAINST YOU ARE NOTHING… TO HIM! Ask the Holy Spirit to FILL you with His peace and confidence and to MOVE on your behalf> HE’LL DO IT!

I have NEVER done anything like that in my building before. I just sensed that SOMEBODY needed it. If it helps that ONE person, it is worth it.

God loves you SO much, and wants to HELP you, no matter WHAT you’ve done (or neglected to do). If you can just EMPTY yourself and say, “God, here I am. If you’re REALLY real, fill me with your cleansing… your Holy Spirit… and help me. I give you my life right now…” Then just sit there quietly and let His Spirit do His work. He WON’T let you down.

This Sunday morning, I want to share with you some more things that will HELP you in your walk with God and your relationship with Him. Then, we’ll spend some quiet time in His presence, getting ministered to directly by the Holy Spirit.

If you haven’t been to the Worship Center for a few weeks, I really encourage you to come back this Sunday. The Lord has been doing a genuine work in my heart by the Holy Spirit and in the hearts of our people. His presence is so real, so vivid that I believe you’d be pleasantly surprised.

There has been a Presence of the Holy Spirit in our services in a way that we haven’t experienced here before. It’s deep, it’s quiet and it’s a genuine move by His Spirit. And, it’s very refreshing and enervating.

Pray about it. And if he leads you here, be here this coming Sunday morning at either the 9:15 or 11am service.
